Warren Police Explorer Post 312

Who are the Warren Police Explorers?

The law enforcement explorer post is a division of the Boy Scouts of America and is sponsored by the Warren Police Department.  The post consists of young men and women between 15 and 21 years of age.  The intent of the explorer post is to educate and involve youth that are interested in police work. Through involvement, the explorer post establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service.  Post members learn through hands-on training and are given the opportunity to use their skills to the benefit of the community.  There are currently 70,000 young people in almost 3,000 posts throughout the country. Explorer post 312 was established in 1996.  The post began with only five explorers who were interested in law enforcement. The post has now grown to 22 members and has been a great asset for the Police Department.

The explorer post is dedicated to providing programs to the community. The post has donated several hundred hours of community service to the Warren area since its inception.  The post provides fingerprinting to hundreds of children every year during Project Kid Care ID. This year the post fingerprinted 500 children at the Warren County Fair with the Jefferson Defrees Center staff. Since the beginning of the program the post has printed over 7500 children.

During the year the post conducts security details for the community. The post handled all of the nighttime security during the Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and Warren Wild Rib Fest at the Warren County Fair Grounds. The post also handles traffic control at the Warren County Winterfest, High 5 Race and other various events.
